Leaning into the Lord and relying on His Spirit, we wanted to give you an update on four key areas this month.

Current Situation and Series

In this season of racial unrest in our country, we want to encourage you that God is in control. We know and believe His Word when it says that He uses all things for His glory and the good of those that know and love Him. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

We want to continue to lament, listen, and learn during this time. We invite you to read the various books this summer as a part of the A Harvest Summer: Mind, Body, Soul personal challenges at harvestbiblechapel.org/mindbodysoul and join us in our church-wide book discussions. The June book discussion on Healing Racial Trauma is next Thursday night, June 25 at 7:00 PM. Details at harvestnow.info.

We thank God for His perfect timing and plan as our teaching series through the book of Mark, Just Jesus: Bold Servant, places us in Mark 12. Pastor Ed Ollie reminded us last weekend that it is impossible to love my neighbor, who I can see, unless I’m fully devoted to loving the God I cannot see. (Mark 12:30–31) We pray that you’re digging into God’s Word throughout the week and applying these truths to your life.

Return to Church Survey and Timeline

Thank you to the over 2100 of you who completed the Return to Church Survey. Our leaders are reviewing the results and developing a plan to return to church. Like many of you, we’re looking forward to the day when we can worship the Lord together on our campuses. Watch for a timeline next week.

Arbitration Update

We wanted to provide a quick update to you in the matter of the arbitration proceedings with Dr. James MacDonald. Both parties have been working towards completion and the Institute for Christian Conciliation (ICC) originally had a completion timeline of early summer, but unforeseen complexities in the case and the health crisis we have all been enduring have greatly impeded the progress for everyone involved. As of right now, we are working to try to close the arbitration process by the end of the summer.

We will continue to provide information as we move through the process.

Lead Teaching Pastor Search

Two weeks ago we met with Vanderbloemen, the pastoral recruiting search firm, for a mid-search update. We are glad to report that they are narrowing the applicants and plan to present a list of initial candidates to us toward the beginning of July. Because many of you have asked, we want to confirm that the search can include both internal and external applicants. We invite you to join us in prayer for our next Lead Teaching Pastor.

You are loved,
The Elders of Harvest Bible Chapel
